The term ‘victim’ is often used interchangeably with the term ‘survivor’ in relation to gender based violence. It is up to the spokesperson to decide, according to the context, which term is better to use (for instance, ”victim” is more used in a legal context or when the person died).

Violation of human rights and a form of discrimination against women including all acts of gender-based violence that result in, or are likely to result in, physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion, or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life (source).

Also known as digital rape or cyber sexual assault, it refers to the use of virtual reality environments, online games, or social media platforms to simulate or depict sexual violence against an individual's avatar or their digital representation without consent.
