This week you learnt:

  • during the Forming phase the team is still looking for orientation: there is a need to define the objectives, activities, roles and responsibilities. On the relational side, the team need to get to know each other first;
  • a team is different from a group because of the following factors: it has defined and shared internal objectives and roles, it has a strong dependence between the members, and a team responsibility (other that personal responsibility). The teams see themselves as a distinct unit;
  • the ideal initial conditions for a team are: a team of adequate size (6-8 people), an internal sponsor, members with varied characteristics but who are able to handle variety;
  • during their first contact, a Team shares Goals, Roles, Processes, Approaches and Values (GRPI Model);
  • the structure defines how team members relate with each others to fulfill the objectives.
