Explicit statements of the bosses or the colleagues

e.g. Explicit ban from surfing the net for personal reasons.

Critical moments in the history of the group

e.g. The team lost an important client because it wasn’t clear who it was that should have followed him personally. A norm could be developed, stating that each client should have an agent within the team.

Past behaviors applied to present situations

e.g. The first behavior which emerges in a group, often determines the group’s expectations. If the first meeting was very informal, the same level of formality is expected for future meetings.
