In this module you will:

  • recognize the method of envisioning and its relevance for inclusive urban transformations in conditions of uncertainty;
  • discuss the differences between forecasting and envisioning;
  • understand the characteristic features of the future-oriented envisioning process;
  • discuss tools of envisioning and in particular the use of visions and scenarios;
  • understand envisioning as method that holds specific potentials when employed for building consensus on alternative urban futures and for establishing polylogues between otherwise non-communicating actors variously engaged in the transformation of their environment;
  • evaluate the envisioning process by critically reflecting on the various steps and challenges faced by the potential partners involved in the polylogue.
