Background
Back in 2015, in the framework of a project funded by the European Union, Sarah had to attend a meeting in Mekelle, Ethiopia.
The meeting would have lasted 1 week.
Sarah is an Italian citizen and, thanks to the special agreement between Italy and Ethiopia, she didn’t need to apply before departure for a visa to enter Ethiopia for tourism purposes.
According to the special agreement, in fact, Italian citizens can get their tourism visa once in the country, registering their entrance at the relevant authorities in the airport.
At the same time, however, according to the Ethiopian immigration law, her type of travel required a Business VISA.
Sarah knew about it, she also knew that Business VISA entailed a long and more expensive procedure.
If you were Sarah what would you have done?
Follow the applicable procedure and applied for the business visa?
Go for the shortest and cheapest way, after all it’s just a week and it’s not really business!
