Sarah considered that ...

Sarah considered that just for one week it was not worth it to apply for the business visa.

So she decided to use the special agreement existing for tourism, to leave without a visa and to carry out the registration as a tourist once arrived, exactly as she did in her previous trip to Ethiopia for the kick off meeting of the project.

Everything went fine at that time after all!

Her flight was leaving from Rome (Italy), transiting in Addis Ababa and eventually reaching Mekelle. Her flight arrived in Addis in delay and so, once landed, being worried of losing the internal connection, she quickly went to the national flights’ areas, passed the controls and took her next flight, thinking she would have asked for the tourism visa directly in Mekelle. But, once in Mekelle, she discovered that there was no possibility to do the procedure there.

At that point, beyond her intentions, she found herself to be illegally in the country.
