A detective story with a learning objective is one of the many ways through which storytelling might support learning. As Patti Christie explained in her interview, it might be used to exercise forensic chemical analysis or for any other pedagogical purpose, when consistent with the structure it requires.
What is important? To make students use their technical and soft skills according to the game (and, implicitly, the learning) goals, and get involved in it as a playground, till they discover that they reached the final goal of the story, discovering who’s guilty, and the final goal of the learning activity, learning what they need to go one step further.
