WHAT?
- Title: Using Open Educational Resources in Teaching - Ukrainian version.
- Description: “Using OER in Teaching” is a MOOC created by Politecnico di Milano - METID to raise awareness and offer an opportunity to learn the basic skills to work with Open Educational Resources. The main beneficiaries of the MOOC are teachers, but it works as well for instructional designers, researchers and librarians. Given the increasing interest of Ukrainian higher education institutions in Open Education, POLIMI partnered with the Ukrainian Scientific University of Applied Sciences (Dnipro, Ukraine) to partly localise the MOOC in the local language to grant local access to key content. Thanks to funding from the OpenEdu community at Creative Commons, librarians in Dnipro worked remotely with Politecnico di Milano - METID staff to ease access to local participants.
WHO?
- Collaborators: the authors of the MOOC (see details in the MOOC description), librarians at the USUST Scientific Library in Dnipro, UKR, and Creative Commons staff.
WHY?
- Because it shows a “good enough” compromise to involve a local community when bigger projects are not a possibility, with small funding, beyond bureaucracy.
- Because it is based on an international collaboration to enact the Open Education approach and philosophy across challenges and with a small-steps tactic approach.
- The MOOC won the OE Award of Excellence for Open MOOC in 2017, and USUST librarians won the OE Award for Open Resilience in 2022.
