IDEA Framework
WHAT?
- Title: “Framework for Reviewing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA) in Open Educational Resources”.
- Description: The Framework is a starting point for creating new OER and assessing and editing OER for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA). It is an adaptation from another document (See below).
WHY?
- This Framework is a derivative, handy, short example. Many major frameworks are available online on the same topic, with the same aim. We chose this example because it provides tips and guidance while offering input to further in-depth knowledge of IDEA.
- It lists the categories to consider for assessing IDEA in resources, and suggests with its format ways to adapt to different priorities and needs. Thanks to the format and the CC-BY licence, it is essential but easy to reuse. It was initially offered as a book chapter (see below), but we prefer to lead you directly to the editable version in the spirit of enhancing adaptation opportunities.

- The “Framework for Reviewing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Open Educational Resources” is downloadable in an editable format from the chapter. We downloaded our own copy to ensure the document is accessible even if someone changed access or moved it elsewhere. You can create your own copy of the whole document. Don’t forget to attribute correctly when reusing! Framework for Reviewing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA) in Open Educational Resources
Note: the Framework is an adaptation from a previous document correctly attributed in the Framework but not available at the link written in the GoogleDoc version; The link is correct in the Chapter. That’s what happens with resources, sometimes, and that’s why we choose to keep this example here! Here is a link to a draft of the original resource from OpenStax, if you are curious to know more about the adapted document:
