  • Description: The content organised in the “knowledge and expertise” edusources area is meant to support teachers, on one side, and institutions, on the other, to take their first practical steps into open education by supporting them with definitions, suggestions, technical knowledge, and tips. The hypertext guides users through the essentials and the criticalities of OE and OER while they go through the process of piloting OER.

WHO?

  • Authors: a collaborative effort of the experts working for edusource, the Dutch platform for digital (open) educational resources; a service from SURF, the ICT cooperation of education and research in the Netherlands.

WHY?

The edusource platform is important in many ways, and this area in particular is extremely helpful for practitioners involved in teaching activities and decision makers at the institutional level to consider and explore the steps needed to practically implement open education in their everyday activities and in the institutional strategic level.

  • The Knowledge and Expertise section of edusources offers practical support for teachers, including guidance on getting started with Open Educational Resources, developing and adapting quality materials, storing and sharing resources effectively, reusing educational content to enrich teaching, and collaborating within subject communities.
  • It also provides essential resources for strategists and decision-makers, including guidance on organising the use of digital educational resources within institutions, developing institutional vision and policy, fostering a culture of sharing and reuse, and managing and updating collections of educational resources.
