Planning for circular transformation and uptake
Planning for circular transformation and uptake
This lecture discusses the importance to develop a viable action plan for a circular transformation of an organisation and brings closer main concepts and tools to be used in a planning process. The planning approach brings the concept of a circular business model in the centre of the attention and is generally applicable for both corporations and startups. Key steps are outlined such as defining vision and purpose, business modelling, and external visioning with partners. Tools like the "Risk to Opportunity Map" and "Lean Canvas" are recommended for planning and executing circular business models. The document, further, emphasizes the significance of the understanding a value-chain context and puts the customer needs and their relative lack – or availability – of the experience with circularity as an important variable that determines the pricing of “circular” goods and services. The document thereafter highlights the need for innovative revenue models in order to maximise the value capture in altered client relationships and the importance of scaling up from pilot projects to full circular business operations.
