Basic Scenario
This scenario is characterized by the possibility of self-recording using everyday devices such as smartphones and tablets. These tools offer significant advantages, including undeniable ease of use and remarkable portability, allowing you to capture videos of good — and sometimes excellent — quality anytime and anywhere. In this scenario, it is also advisable to use a few small accessories, such as a tripod, to ensure video stability and prevent shaky footage. Modern smartphones are now equipped with advanced features such as image stabilization, 4K recording, and the ability to edit videos quite easily. They represent an ideal choice for those seeking to combine practicality and quality in their recordings.
Intermediate Scenario
This scenario is still based on the concept of self-recording but involves equipment more specifically designed for video recording compared to the basic scenario. Here is an example of a self-recording kit we have assembled and provide to our instructors who want to record educational video materials:
A trolley containing everything needed, in particular:
- A mini video camera, notable for being extremely easy to use (often called “point-and-shoot” due to its simplicity). The camera comes with several accessories, such as a wide-angle lens, a USB connector, a protective case, a tripod mount, and a microphone.
- A set of lights to adjust the brightness of the room.
- A tripod.
Advanced Scenario
In this case, we move beyond self-recording and enter the realm of true professional video production, characterized primarily by dedicated spaces, staff, and equipment.
Professional cameras
High-quality cameras with large image sensors for better light management and depth of field.
Professional lighting systems
For precise control of scene lighting, with adjustable intensity and color temperature.
High-quality audio systems
Such as directional and lavalier microphones, to capture clear and detailed sound directly from the source.
Stabilization systems
Including tripods and fluid heads for stable static shots, as well as gimbals and steadicams for smooth and stable camera movements, even in motion.
Sets and backdrops
Used to create chroma key effects and custom backgrounds. In some cases, actual set pieces are included to build desired environments and scenes.
Teleprompter
Also called an “autocue,” this is a reading support system used during video recordings. It consists of a screen placed near the camera on which the text scrolls. The screen is strategically positioned so it is not visible from the camera angle, allowing the speaker to maintain natural eye contact.
Control and monitoring systems
For immediate quality checks of video and audio during recording.
