My design of formative assessment (Ana Moura Santos)
Ana says she never measured the time devoted to the design and re-design phases, because she was doing several things at the same time. She adds that the effort required is quite important when starting from scratch; it is better to allocate time and energies, being sure that they will pay off very quickly afterwards.
Very often teachers think and design many learning activities at the same time, so it is not always easy to measure the time effort for each of them. It could be useful, anyway, to have an idea of the time required for the design at the beginning, in the middle of the experience and after the second and the third implementation of formative assessment, to have an idea of the feasibility of different activities and balance efforts accordingly.
Which is your experience when it comes to design learning activities and managing your time and your efforts? Do you agree with Ana about the payoff of well-designed learning activities?
