Characterization of reversible materials

In this lesson, some of the most widely employed characterization approaches for reversible polymeric materials are presented and discussed in detail. Each technique is first introduced with a description of its fundamental physical principles, highlighting the physical and chemical mechanisms that govern its operation, including the output data obtained. Subsequently, specific examples and practical applications of these techniques in the study of smart materials are reported and analyzed. Emphasis is placed on how these methods allow the investigation of material properties and reversibility. Finally, the advantages and limitations of the different approaches are discussed, to provide a complete overview of the analytical tools available for the characterization of reversible polymeric systems.
