Student self-awareness and critical thinking can be developed through this methodology. You have to define very precisely your expectations about the product you want them to implement (whether it is a journal, a research paper or a report) and its content (for example, if it should refer to a specific learning activity, or a period of time during the learning path). Then, you should design a rubric through which you or students’ peers (depending on your choice as a teacher) will evaluate the assignment. Students should work on the development of a draft version: they will receive feedback and comments on it from the teacher or their peers, then finalise it including the changes needed according to the feedback.
