  • explain the meaning of Metadesign exploring the national and international contexts in which the term originated and has since been used;

  • describe the origins of Metadesign and its main nature as theoretical and methodological approach to design practice;

  • explain the theoretical evolution of Metadesign as an implicit practice in Italian design culture;

  • understand the concept of "reflective practice" related to Metadesign as methodology to elaborate conceptual models and critical visions on the discipline through learning design experiences, as demonstrated by the Italian design context;

  • identify the reasons why Metadesign is a fundamental component of design education and a key capability for design professionals;

  • define the strategic dimension of Metadesign in regard of the evolution of innovation’s meanings within the design discipline;

  • and finally, analyze a text, examining its perspective on Metadesign, and synthetize it following a proposed outline.
