iconaINTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

In this lecture we will talk about neutrons: how they are produced, how they can be classified and how they can be detected. Each one of these aspects results to be strongly related to the physics of nuclear processes, physics that can be exploited to manage neutron fields.

After this lecture you will be able to:

  • Describe the spontaneous fission and related energy;
  • Refer to isotopic neutron sources;
  • Classify the components of a neutron field;
  • Refer to neutron counters and detectors.
