iconaGLOSSARY

  • Electronvolt -eV
The electronvolt (symbol eV) is the amount of kinetic energy gained by an electron accelerating from rest through an electric potential difference of one volt in vacuum. 1 eV is equivalent to  1.602176634×10−19 J.

  • Nuclear Fission
Nuclear process in which a nucleus splits into two lighter nuclei. Nuclear fission can be spontaneous or induced by an incident particle.

  • Scattering
Reaction process characterized by an outgoing particle of the same type of the incident one.
