Hydrocyclone optimization for the removal of impurities in biowaste co-digestion processes

The MCI – The Entrepreneurial School® is highly interest in cooperation with other researchers in the field of solid-liquid-separation. Especially for the field of hydrocyclones, some options for cooperation are listed below:

  • We have a mobile testing plant (MobiKlon) for volume flow rates up to 30 m³/h. Typical feasibility study testing on-site is 1 day preparation, 3 days experiments and 1 day post processing.
  • We have a stationary test plant for volume flow rates 1-40 m³/h (see photo attached). In this case you could send us a sample of the suspension and we do the tests in Austria.
  • Currently we are developing a smaller mobile test plant for volume flow rates 5-10 m³/h for on-site tested. The commissioning of this system is in March 2020.
  • The test plants are not limited on hydrocyclones. Also other separation devices (e.g. filters …) can be investigated.
  • We can also provide PIV (particle image velocimetry) measurements, LDA (laser Doppler anemometry) measurements and CFD simulations for evaluation of the flow in the hydrocyclone or other separation device.
  • Additionally, we have good facilities for particle characterization (e.g. Malvern Mastersizer, Malvern Spraytec, gas pycnometer, etc.) for fast performance evaluation and analysis of the separation process.
