Losing face

Basic needs for dignity and recognition are being underminedthe other person is the problem in all respects.

LET'S SEE AN EXAMPLE

Description of the scene: Barbara confesses to Oliver she hadn’t picked him up at the hospital because of a problem she had while driving to the hospital. she explains that she had the feeling that her husband was dead, but what shocked her the most was the fact that in that precise moment she didn’t feel sad, on the contrary “she was happy to be free, like a weight had been lifted” (Lack of recognition and loss of dignity). Barbara says that she wants to divorce and admits that Oliver is a problem for her and she doesn’t want to try helping him improve his behavior (the other person is the problem in all respects). Barbara explains that “when she watches him eat, when she sees him asleep, she just wants to smash his face”. And after this terrible confession, she punches him in the face (complete disregard of the other’s dignity).
