The European Landscape Convention is a document signed on 20 October 2000 in Florence and is part of the Council of Europe's work on cultural and natural heritage, spatial planning and the environment.

In addition to giving an unambiguous and agreed definition of landscape, the convention lays down the measures for recognition and protection, which the member states undertake to apply. It defines policies, objectives, protection and management relating to the landscape heritage, recognising its cultural, environmental, social and historical importance as a component of European heritage and a fundamental element in guaranteeing the quality of life of populations.

La Convenzione europea sul paesaggio

La Convenzione Europea sul Paesaggio è un documento firmato il 20 Ottobre 2000 a Firenze ed è parte del lavoro del Consiglio d'Europa sul patrimonio culturale e naturale, sulla pianificazione territoriale e sull'ambiente.

Oltre a dare una definizione univoca e condivisa di paesaggio, la convenzione dispone i provvedimenti in tema di riconoscimento e tutela, che gli stati membri si impegnano ad applicare. Vengono definite le politiche, gli obiettivi, la salvaguardia e la gestione relativi al patrimonio paesaggistico, riconosciuta la sua importanza culturale, ambientale, sociale, storica quale componente del patrimonio europeo ed elemento fondamentale a garantire la qualità della vita delle popolazioni.

El Convenio Europeo del Paisaje es un documento firmado el 20 de octubre de 2000 en Florencia y se inscribe en el marco de los trabajos del Consejo de Europa sobre el patrimonio cultural y natural, la ordenación del territorio y el medio ambiente.

Además de dar una definición unívoca y consensuada del paisaje, el Convenio establece las medidas de reconocimiento y protección que los Estados miembros se comprometen a aplicar. Define políticas, objetivos, protección y gestión relativos al patrimonio paisajístico, reconociendo su importancia cultural, medioambiental, social e histórica como componente del patrimonio europeo y elemento fundamental para garantizar la calidad de vida de las poblaciones.

Die Europäische Landschaftskonvention ist ein Dokument, das am 20. Oktober 2000 in Florenz unterzeichnet wurde und Teil der Arbeit des Europarates in den Bereichen Kultur- und Naturerbe, Raumplanung und Umwelt ist.

Die Konvention enthält nicht nur eine eindeutige und vereinbarte Definition des Begriffs "Landschaft", sondern legt auch die Maßnahmen zur Anerkennung und zum Schutz fest, zu deren Anwendung sich die Mitgliedstaaten verpflichten. Sie definiert die Politik, die Ziele, den Schutz und die Verwaltung des landschaftlichen Erbes und erkennt dessen kulturelle, ökologische, soziale und historische Bedeutung als Bestandteil des europäischen Erbes und als grundlegendes Element zur Gewährleistung der Lebensqualität der Bevölkerung an.
