Let's practice!
I want to share some “exercises” and general suggestions to get you started on the main aspects of public speaking (further with respect to the ones suggested in the modules).
These exercise are just hints for your personal reflection and consolidation of some concepts. They are optional and not graded.
Please note that you can can perform these exercises on a notebook or a pepar. If not specified otherwise, you don't need to post your answers in the course forum.
EXERCISE 1: “GOOD PLAGIARISM” AGAIN
Like in week 1, let me say that: I know that “real” plagiarism is bad. But it can also be used for the good, as in this exercise.
Cicero said that you learn by imitation. A speaker in a video raises your emotions, or is particularly effective under some respects?
Try to identify what, according to you, were the success elements of her presentation and try to mimic them.
EXERCISE 2: “LISTEN TILL THE END.”
This is THE exercise. Listen to someone till the end. Till the end. Take your turn only when she is done with what she wants to say. This is going to be an eye-opening exercise (for both you and your interlocutor).
