M’Illumino di Meno – Energy policies and projects on campus
Energy consumption does not depend only on the efficiency and performance of the technologies used, but also on our behavior in everyday life. “M’illumino di meno” (in English it could be translated as “lightless”) is a national awareness event, renewed every year. It is a day dedicated to energy savings and sustainable lifestyles, conceived in 2005 by the radio program Caterpillar and Rai Radio2 with the original idea of asking its listeners to turn off all the lights that are not indispensable; a symbolic initiative indeed, that over time has achieved great resonance.
In the video we report the activities of the awareness-raising event held at the Politecnico di Milano in 2018, in response to the call of the national network of universities for sustainable development (RUS). Teachers, technicians and students together improvised a “KWh hunt” around the campus, disseminating stickers with good practices slogans, turning off lights in unused spaces and closing doors and windows dispersing the heating. We believe that the commitment of all of us can start from simple and concrete actions like these!
