In a recent situation, I found myself involved in a work project with someone from a very different cultural background. Both of us had different ideas on how to approach a certain technical problem. From my cultural perspective, the approach I was proposing was based on my technical background and common practices in my work context. On the other hand, the person I was working with followed an approach more focused on practicality and the tradition of their culture. This led to divergences in communication and decisions made during the project. The consequences of this cultural difference were increased tension within the team and slowdowns in the project's progress. However, through the practice of the DIE model (Describe, Interpret, Evaluate), we were able to overcome the cultural differences. We openly described our perspectives, interpreted the reasons behind our different cultural outlooks, and evaluated how to integrate positive elements from both approaches to achieve a better outcome. Ultimately, this experience enriched our mutual understanding and led to increased collaboration and creativity in our work together.

Dear Giorgia,
This is a great example of effectively navigating cultural differences in a professional setting, as well as highlighting the importance of open communication and cultural awareness in fostering creativity and team cohesion.
