I see how this is a business or research institution which benefits from the volume of users, but they do not charge the users, on the contrary, they want more users even if it's for free. I did not know about this device and I think is really interesting, because it is a compromise between privacy and potentially valuable information to save money (fuel optimization).
I personally think that I would participate in this project but without the GPS location. This is because I don't want them to know where I'm at. They could conclude that if my car is 8 hours at night at a specific location, then probably I live there. Moreover, if they see that the average velocity or acceleration of the car is high, then they could conclude that it is an expensive car, so now they know where a rich person lives.
Even if they assure me that the data is encrypted and secured, a hacker could obtain the information easily. This is something to watch out for, and with the project being so recent and new, I would think that the measures taken for cybersecurity aspects is probably not the best.
