This last example can be more demanding for the students than the previous ones, but it is also more rewarding.

The students would organise an event, like a fair where they would have to prepare stands to present the results of a research they had to undertake during your course. This can take place on the university campus.

The event can take the form of company visits. The theme of the event depends on your course subject (it can be, for example, new technology development biofuel, environmental monitoring and analysis, CO2 capture technologies…).

The learning objectives for this assignment are similar to those identified for the Panel and the Interview assignments: your students have the possibilities to develop a wider network within the business/industry community, to cooperate with each other, improving their project management, organization, and communication skills, but also critical thinking, leadership, team work, self management, etc…

These activities can be implemented in different ways. You can encourage the students to take an active role in their learning and to make sustainable choices, to explore some of the concrete implications of what they are studying in class, building bridges between academia and industry, becoming aware of the complexity of issues at stake from practical perspectives.
