Case study 1 - ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS & COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECT BiSC3 (Environmental Science)
Each semester, students in BiSC3 Environmental Science course at Penn State Berks, work in small teams to complete a community-based service-learning project called the ‘Environmental Awareness & Community Action Project’. This project allows students the opportunity to research an environmental issue of their choice (local, national, or global) and take action to support community initiatives to address sustainability related issues.
Case study 2 - Sustainability Challenge
The Sustainability Challenge is an interdisciplinary course taught by five universities in Vienna, namely the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the University of Vienna, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, TU Wien and the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The course involves service-learning projects focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where students are encouraged to implement their own solution concepts and their own sustainability-driven business idea, together with partners from business, municipalities or NGOs.
