Learning outcomes of week 3

In this Week you will learn to:

  • perform an internal strategy analysis at a Business level by means of detailed strategy models that can feed the identification of strengths and weaknesses in a SWOT analysis;
  • assess a company’s competitive advantage;
  • apply the value chain model and grasp how a company’s sources of competitive advantage or disadvantage depend on how its activities and processes are: 
  1. designed, structured and managed,
  2. linked,
  3. and internally controlled or outsourced;
  • identify cost drivers and sources of efficiency-based competitive advantage;
  • discriminate between Porter’s generic strategies at a Business level – cost leadership, differentiation and focus.
