Peer Discussion (Part 1)
Peer Discussion (Part 1):
The following activity is a stimulus for self reflection and it is not graded
Activity
The following activity is composed of 3 parts, one at the end of each week. The inspiration comes from the Gender Balance in Content Initiative of Women in News. WAN-IFRA Women in News (WIN) aims to increase women’s leadership and voices in the news, and for this purpose it has created a useful toolkit, available at: Gender Balance Content
During this week, you are invited to share your thoughts in the forum, by answering some reflective questions. Write your answers in the forum, read and comment on the ones by your peers. There are no right or wrong answers: the aim is just to learn from each other.
Now that you are more aware of the biases in the STEM field, you are also able to weigh the importance of overcoming them to make your MOOCs more inclusive.
REFLECTION
Why is gender balance important in your MOOCs (and educational content more widely)?
How do biases usually emerge in MOOCs?
