Phase 1 - Block, immobilisation
As soon as the project is communicated the first 'typical' reaction reaction of the people involved is comparable to a 'shock'. Company representatives try to communicate the absolute necessity of the proposed change, often not getting any response from the people involved, who feel literally blocked by the news that is perceived as negative.
To better illustrate the PHASES of the model, here are some scenes from the movie "The Queen", which describes the way in which Queen Elizabeth faced and managed the situation when mourning over the Princess Diana’s car accident struck the royal family.
LET'S SEE AN EXAMPLE
Now, we’ll describe the scene where the royal family gets to know about Diana’s accident: Queen Elizabeth reacts in an absolutely inappropriate way and doesn’t allow her son to use the private jet to reach his wife in Paris. She doesn’t consider her daughter-in-law (Lady D.) a member of the Royal Family anymore (no response from the people involved). Prince Carl needs to ask for help from someone else, so as to reach Paris by plane, despite the fact that he could do it on his own, thanks to the means of transport of the Royal Family.
