Life continues at home: her husband’s problems, children and Constantino’s departure as a private investigator.

LET'S SEE AN EXAMPLE

Bread and Tulips, S. Soldini, 2000, Istituto Luce (00:32:00 - 00-39:00).

Following Rosalba’s departure, her husband’s life changes: how does he handle the situation? How do the young children experience the situation? How does Costantino handle the departure for Venice?

Husband: he panics, feels unprepared, unable to handle the family situation and chores, a simple dinner becomes a real problem. He asks his lover to iron his shirts and calls the lawyer to ask for help.

Children: they react in a totally relaxed manner; on the one hand they experience it as a "normal" event, on the other, as a release, to be able to do anything they want in the house (a son goes and eats at his fiancée and he doesn’t tell his father at what time he will be back home, the other son eats chips on the coach and doesn’t want to have dinner).

Costantino: perceives events as a great opportunity to find a permanent job.
