• Non-violent communication (also called empathetic communication) is a communication process developed by Marshall Rosenberg in 1960 and is particularly useful for the resolution of conflicts in which the preservation of the relationship is of great interest to both parties.
  • Non-violent communication is based on three basic concepts:
    1. self-empathy (your interests, needs and emotions are at stake);
    2. empathetic listening to the other (their interests, needs and emotions are at stake);
    3. authentic expression, that is, knowing how to express your views in a sincere, honest way, but without hurting the emotions of others.
  • To deliver you message authentically and effectively, the OIS structure (Observe - Impact - Suggest) is recommended.
