I live in a very dry environment, when the soil is damaged its recovery is very difficult. I would focus on using native pants and vegetation, create artificial rain gardens to keep the soild humidity. Introducing organic matter and avoiding chemical use would be a good choice.

Here’s a simple 5ways to restore damaged soil:

Decompact the soil – use a garden fork or aerator to loosen compacted areas.

Add organic matter – mix in compost, leaf litter, or well-rotted manure.

Mulch – cover soil with organic mulch to retain moisture and protect it.

Encourage soil life – introduce or attract earthworms and beneficial microbes.

Prevent future damage – avoid walking/parking on garden beds; use paths and raised beds.

I can introduce native trees and animals into the area that will gradually help reset and return the ecosystem to how it would naturally be. They will help return the balance of the soil to something more suitable to the environment in which they are.
