“In the first year, maintenance focuses on watering, mulching, weeding, staking, and monitoring, while after five years, it shifts to occasional watering, mulching, structural pruning, and health monitoring as the tree becomes established.”

The maintenance actions I would undertake at the beginning would be staking the trees, placing mesh around the roots to protect them, and ensuring they are being watered sufficiently. If after the 5 years assessment they are doing well, I will stop extra watering but keep the other things until observing the results of reduced watering. If the trees are still doing well, I will then remove the staking and mesh. Depending on what the weather conditions are, I will continue watering extra over the years to compensate for any droughts that might be experienced in the area. If grass does begin growing in the area, I will also implement a regular mowing schedule.
