“Locus of Control” (LoC) model
The Locus of Control (LoC) model (J. B. Rotter) - indicates the manner in which a person believes that events are generated by her/his behaviour (or actions) or produced by external causes beyond their control.
External LoC
Fatalistic thinking, the belief of being at the mercy of events, that each person’s power to influence context and events is almost nil, and things happen due to luck or chance.
Internal LoC
Determinist thinking, the belief that each person alone is advocate of her/his own destiny, the belief that one can influence the context and events.
The "locus of control” model will be resumed shortly to explain the dynamics that people put in place during a change project. We therefore suggest reading some additional material on the model.
