You are aware of the final learning objective and intend to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to get there. You recognise the difference between the skills needed and those you currently possesse, consciously experiencing this difference as incompetence.
For example, an Australian child and his family go on holiday to Switzerland with friends. Seeing his friends skiing, a desire arises in him to be able to ski like them, not knowing how.
