A large amount of the negative thoughts that hinder us in pursuing our intentions are based on beliefs that we have built in childhood. These are beliefs that often are constituted of the 'basic elementary instructions' that, unconsciously, control our behaviour.

Negative thoughts create a range of emotions such as fearanxietyanger, etc, in order to protect ourselves from pain (rejection, humiliation, etc).

Negative thoughts typically distort our perception of reality, resulting in an emotional block in dealing with situations of change.

«The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.»

(George Bernard Shaw)
